Practical support for a healthy weight

Healthy Weight Support for Pets

Our nurse-led weight clinics provide practical support to help dogs and cats reach and maintain a healthy weight. Appointments are available at our Llantrisant, Caerphilly and Whitchurch practices.

Healthy Weight Support for Dogs and Cats

Maintaining a healthy weight can support your pet’s mobility, comfort and long-term wellbeing. Our veterinary nurses can assess weight and body condition and help you understand what a healthy target may look like.

We can offer practical guidance on portion sizes, feeding routines and activity, then monitor progress over time. Small, steady changes are often easier for both pets and owners to maintain.

If weight change could be linked to an underlying medical problem, our nurses will make sure your pet is booked with a vet for further assessment.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

What happens at a pet weight clinic?
We will weigh your pet, assess body condition and talk through feeding, activity and a realistic plan for gradual progress.
The best interval depends on your pet and the plan agreed with the nurse. Regular rechecks make it easier to monitor progress and make sensible adjustments.
If progress is slower than expected, we can review the plan. If there are signs that weight change could be linked to a medical issue, we will recommend a veterinary assessment.
